Death investigation on the Woods Quarry Trail near the Boulder Flatirons

A hiker located a man's body on the trail early this morning; foul play is not suspected

Boulder, Colo. - This morning, just before 10:30 a.m., the Boulder County Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call from a hiker on the Woods Quarry Trail near the Flatirons, about a man's body he discovered on the trail. The caller indicated that it appeared the man had suffered some type of gunshot wound and was obviously deceased.

Boulder County Sheriff's Office deputies, along with rescue personnel from the Boulder Fire Department, City of Boulder Open Space & Mountain Parks, and Rocky Mountain Rescue, responded and confirmed the man's death.

Investigators from the Sheriff's Office and the Boulder County Coroner's Office investigated the man's death at the scene. As a result of their initial investigation, no foul play is suspected. The Coroner's Office is ultimately responsible to determine the cause and manner of the man's death, as well as to establish his identification.

The case number associated with this investigation is: 18-266.
