Deputy involved in weekend shooting identified

Deputy Teri Javes, a 19-year veteran, was involved in this weekend's shooting on Highway 287 south of Longmont.

Boulder County, Colo. - The deputy involved in the shooting on Highway 287 south of Longmont this past weekend is Deputy Teri Javes. An official portrait of Deputy Javes is included below.

Deputy Javes began her career with the sheriff's office in 1997 as a civilian technician in the jail. Deputy Javes was promoted to jail deputy in 1998 and served in the Jail Division until 2013 when she transferred to patrol in the Operations Division. Over the course of her career, Deputy Javes has been the recipient of numerous commendations and awards, including a Life-Saving Medal awarded in 2012 for her role in saving the life of an inmate at the jail who had attempted suicide.
