Grass fire in Superior

Grass fire, 27 acres in size, has been contained

Boulder County, Colo. - At approximately 12:45 p.m. on February 19, 2016, a small grass fire was reported north of the intersection of Colorado Highway 128 and Ridge Parkway in Superior.

The fire grew to approximately 27 acres in size. High winds helped drive the fire; however no evacuation orders were issued. The fire has been fully contained, but firefighters will remain on scene to due to a few active spots and the high winds that are occurring.

Personnel from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Colorado State Patrol, Colorado Department of Transportation, Rocky Mountain Fire Department, North Metro Fire, Louisville Fire Department, Lafayette Fire Department, Boulder Rural Fire Protection District and Mountain View Fire Department, responded to the grass fire. In total, 60 firefighters responded to the fire.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
