Ground Fire in Boulder County, Colorado

Ground fire burns hay bales near 119 St./Quicksilver

Boulder County, Colo. - On November 27, 2021, at approximately 1:22 a.m., the Boulder County Communications Center received reports of a ground fire near the intersection of 119 Street and Quicksilver in unincorporated Boulder County, Colorado.

Members with the Mountain View Fire Protection District and the Boulder County Sheriff's Office responded, and upon arrival, found a stack of hay bales burning. There were no buildings or houses nearby and the only damage was to some grass near the hay bale stack and the hay bales themselves. Firefighters contained the fire to the stack of hay bales and monitored it, as it takes less resources to allow the fire to burn itself out than to try to extinguish that type of fire. The cause of the fire is unknown.

There was no damage and no injuries reported due to this incident. The Boulder County Sheriff's Office case report number for this incident is #21-5700.
