Interested in how elections work?

In-person ballot processing tours and online presentation scheduled


Boulder County, Colo. – Boulder County Clerk and Recorder Molly Fitzpatrick will host ballot processing tours on Friday, June 24 and Monday, June 27 at the Elections Division Ballot Processing Center. Clerk Fitzpatrick will also host an online elections presentation on Tuesday, June 21. This webinar will include information about the upcoming elections (June and November), ballot processing basics, voter statistics, election security, and more. Following the webinar, the tours will provide in-person opportunities to dive deeper into ballot processing procedures and safeguards and see firsthand how the process happens.

Online Elections Presentation

  • When: Tuesday, June 21, 6 p.m. - Presentation and Q&A expected to last about 30-45 minutes

  • Login directions for the webinar will be sent several hours prior to the event.

Election / Ballot Processing Center Tours

  • When: Friday, June 24, 12 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. and Monday, June 27, 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Tours run approximately every 30 minutes.
  • RSVP required as space is limited. RSVP for a timeslot at: www.BoCo.org/ElectionTourRSVP
  • Location: 1750 33rd Street in Boulder – Elections Division Ballot Processing Center (look for signs)

The online presentation will give a high-level overview of how your local elections office ensures an efficient, accurate, and secure election. We’ll also cover frequently asked voter questions, voter statistics, election security questions, ballot processing steps, and more.

The in-person tours then offer people interested in local elections the opportunity to see how ballots are processed, understand how signatures are verified on mail ballots, and learn about how ballot adjudication works, among other ballot processing and election security procedures and safeguards. Visitors will be able to observe workers processing ballots for the Tuesday, June 28 Primary Election. Students are strongly encouraged to attend to learn more about the elections process. Tours take about 30 minutes with questions.

Please note that for the security of our staff and election judges, we will ask all tour attendees to leave personal belongings in the car, will require attendees to sign in, and will have security present. As of today, masks are required in Boulder County buildings – this is subject to change at any time.
