Boulder County Sheriff's Office case number 16-4375

Boulder County, Colo. - On Saturday, July 23rd, 2016 at approximately 7:09pm, the Boulder County Regional Communications Center received a report two hikers were stranded on the Second Flatiron at Chautaugua Park.

The reporting party was hiking with her two friends, Giovanni Rodriguez( 22 years old) and Manuel Galarza (23 years old) when they decided to climb the Second Flatiron. Giovanni and Manuel were not experienced climbers and did not have any equipment with them. The reporting party noticed the two were stranded and since it was getting dark she decided to call 911.

The Boulder County Sheriff's Office, Boulder Fire Department, City of Boulder Parks and Open Space Rangers, American Medical Response and volunteers with the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group (RMRG) responded and were able to help them down after approximately two hours. Neither party suffered any injuries.
