Rescue at West Magnolia

An 18 year old female with leg injuries taken to Denver area hospital.

Boulder County, Colo. - On March 13, 2016 at approximately 10 a.m. the Nederland Police Department received a report of a missing 18 year old female in the West Magnolia area. The female, a CU student, was camping with a group at the west end of the West Magnolia camping area when she wandered off on her own at approximately 3 a.m. The camping party made attempts to find her on their own before reporting it to authorities.

At 11 a.m., just as personnel from Nederland Fire, Rocky Mountain Rescue and Front Range Rescue Dogs were responding to search, the female found her way back to their camp. She had substantial wounds to her legs and was transported by helicopter to University Hospital.

Deputies are waiting to talk to the female to find more about what occurred and to see if any drugs and/or alcohol contributed to the incident.
