Boulder County, Colo. -

On Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at approximately 5:56 p.m., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a group of three scramblers who had been climbing on the Second Flatiron and reported their friend had fallen to the ground. One of the scramblers had fallen approximately 15 feet, his fall being slowed by one of the friends, who was below him, and a tree.

Rangers from City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks arrived on scene first and were followed by members of the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group. Rescuers stabilized the patient medically and then packaged the 18-year-old male from Lafayette, CO into a stretcher and carried him to an ambulance which was stationed at Bluebell Shelter.
