Shanahan Ridge Open Space area

Boulder County, Colo.--On Friday, May 20, 2016, at approximately 6:45 pm, members from American Medical Response, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, Boulder Fire Department, City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks Rangers, and deputies from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Shanahan Ridge Open Space area in Boulder County, for a rescue of two male hikers in their mid-20’s: Marcel Quitoriano (23) and Jordan Leblanc (25).

The hikers ran out of food and water. One of the hikers became dehydrated and suffered muscle cramps and was having trouble walking. The hikers were able to call for assistance using their cell phone. The hikers where later rescued on the Bear Canyon Trail by members of Rocky Mountain Rescue Group. The hikers were escorted down the trail to their vehicle at NCAR.

Due to the quick response and deployment of rescuers, the hikers were quickly located and sustained very minor, non-life threating injuries. The hikers where treated on scene and released.
