Boulder County, Colo. --On 02/13/2016, at approximately 645p.m., Boulder County Dispatch received a call about a lost hiker in Chautauqua Park ( City of Boulder Mountain Parks and Open Space property ), located in unincorporated Boulder County, Colorado.
Phillip Hunt and his canine companion were on a hiking trail after sunset when they became lost when they got off the trail. He was able to call for assistance and Dispatch was able to obtain his GPS coordinates from his cellular phone.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, City of Boulder Mountain Parks and Open Space Rangers, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, and Front Range Rescue Dog Group responded to the scene. A search was initiated and Phillip and his canine were located and brought back off the trail safely. No medical attention was needed.
