Skier dies after collision with tree at Eldora Ski Area

60-year-old local resident dies after colliding with tree

Boulder County, Colo. - On Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at approximately 10:25 a.m., the Boulder County Communications Center received a call from Eldora Ski Area reporting a crash involving a skier. Ski patrol personnel with Eldora Ski Area had found a 60-year-old male skier lying on the ground in the trees along the ski run “Hot Dog Alley.” The male was unconscious and alone and had apparently collided with a tree at some point earlier in the day. Ski patrol immediately began first aid and CPR, but their resuscitative efforts were unsuccessful, and the male was pronounced dead in the first aid room at approximately 11:00 a.m.

Deputies from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office and investigators with the Boulder County Coroner’s Office responded to the ski area to investigate the situation. At this time, it appears that the male had been skiing alone and there are no suspicious circumstances. The decedent, a 60-year-old resident of the Nederland area, is not being identified at this time pending notification of his next of kin.

The case number for this incident is 21-5910.
