Boulder County Case Number 16-5601
Boulder County, Colo. - On September 11th, 2016 at approximately 6:36pm the Boulder County Regional Communications Center and the City of Longmont Dispatch center started receiving 911 calls regarding a structure fire at the old Sugar Mill located at 11939 Sugarmill Road, Boulder County, Colorado.
Since the Sugar Mill is in a County Island within the City of Longmont both Deputies from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office and Officers from the Longmont Police Department responded along with members of the Longmont Fire Department, Mountain View Fire and Rescue, Longmont Hazardous Materials Team, American Medical Response (AMR) and the Longmont Emergency Unit (LEU).
Upon arrival flames and smoke could be seen coming from a second story window on the south side of the building. A short time later a small section of the building near the fire collapsed. This section of the building is no longer in use.
Members of the Fire Department were able to quickly put the fire out. No injuries were reported.
Fire Investigators with the Longmont Fire Department were notified of the fire but at this time due to the hazardous conditions it is unknown if any further investigation will be conducted. The cause and nature of the fire are unknown.
