Structure Fire 5100 Block Williams Fork Trail
Boulder County, Colo. -
On August 6, 2017 at approximately 1:22 am Boulder County Sheriff’s
deputies and members of the Rocky Mountain, Boulder Rural, Mountain View, Boulder
Fire, Lafayette and Louisville Fire Protection Districts and American Medical
Response Ambulance Service responded to the 5100 block of Williams Fork Trail on
the report of a possible structure fire.
Upon arrival deputies discovered a small fire located in the
attic above one of the apartments on the second floor. The fire had been predominately extinguished
by a resident who procured a fire extinguisher from inside the hallway, climbed
into the attic space and suppressed the smoldering fire until emergency
personnel could arrive.
The apartment complex was completely evacuated as safety
precaution at the request of fire command.
Power was turned off for the entire building while firefighters fully
extinguished the fire. During the course
of the event, approximately 50 residents were temporarily displaced from their
apartments. Residents were allowed to
return to their apartments just over an hour after evacuated. The Boulder Rural Fire Protection district determined
the fire was most likely caused by some sort of electrical issue and minor damaged sustained. There is no foul play suspected at this time.
