Person Rescued from Barker Dam

Boulder County, Colo. --On September 10, 2016, at about 2:25 AM, Boulder Communications Dispatch was notified of a 22 year old male that had fallen off of Barker Dam, located at 27000 Boulder Canyon Drive, Boulder County (just outside the Town of Nederland). The man had been drinking and scaled the safety fence, before falling an estimated 15-20 feet onto the concrete spillway below. Luckily, no water was passing through the spillway at the time.

Members of the Boulder County Sheriff's Office, Nederland Fire Protection District, American Medical Response, City of Boulder Water, and Rocky Mountain Rescue Group responded to extract the man. He was transported to the hospital for evaluation and treatment.

The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time, as he is undergoing medical evaluation, but he was conscious at the time of contact. Due to privacy issues related to medical privacy laws, his name is not being released at this time.
