Unattended Death in the 11300 Block of Dillon Road
Boulder County, Colo. On Saturday, October 1, 2016 around 9:00 a.m., the body of a 44-year old man was found in the water near the 11300 Block of Dillon Road. The decedent's vehicle had been called in by a witness on September 30, 2016 after it had been parked in the same location for approximately a week.
When Boulder County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the area to check on the vehicle, they discovered the vehicle was unlocked with the keys in the ignition. During a search of the area, deputies also located a back pack along the banks of Rock Creek. A hasty search of the area was undertaken late in the afternoon, but ended unsuccessfully.
This morning at 8:00 a.m., emergency personnel from the sheriff's office, Boulder Emergency Squad, Boulder Emergency Dive Team, and Front Range Rescue Dogs returned to the area to resume the search efforts. After the man's boy was located, search and rescue personnel were joined at the scene by sheriff's office and coroner's investigators. The man's death does not appear suspicious and foul play is not suspected.
The man's name is being withheld pending notification to his family. After appropriate notifications are made, the Boulder County Coroner's Office will publicly identify the man. The coroner's office will also work to determine the cause and manner of the man's death.
The case number associated with this investigation is 16-6042.
