Unattended Death in Southeast Boulder County

Boulder County, Colo. - On April 06, 2016 at approximately 4:00pm, deputies from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, officers from the Lafayette Police Department, personnel from the Lafayette Fire Department, and the Boulder County Coroner’s Office responded to a report of an unresponsive male inside a vehicle at a business located at 214 North 120th Street in unincorporated Boulder County just outside the City of Lafayette.

The 56-year-old male was alone inside the vehicle and had just completed a purchase at the business. An employee of the business saw the male slumped inside the vehicle and believed he was asleep or having a medical problem. The employee approached the vehicle and tried arousing the male but received no response and he subsequently called 911. The male was examined by rescue personnel on scene and was pronounced dead.

Detectives from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office and a deputy coroner from the Boulder County Coroner’s Office investigated at the scene. At this time, the death appears to be medically related and no foul play is suspected, but the Boulder County Coroner’s Office will make the final determination as to the cause and manner of death.

The Boulder County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the decedent once they have confirmed that all family members have been notified.

The associated case number for this incident is 16-1967.
