UPDATE: Armed Robbery in Sunshine Canyon
Suspect deceased after second pursuit
Boulder County, Colo. - On November 10, 2015, detectives from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office obtained an arrest warrant for one suspect involved in the home invasion robbery in Sunshine Canyon and a search warrant for a residence in Adams County.
The arrest warrant included the charges of second degree assault and aggravated robbery from the incident that took place earlier in the day at a residence in the 5200 block of Sunshine Canyon, unincorporated Boulder County. Two male suspects entered the residence; at least one was armed with a handgun. They demanded marijuana from the resident, when he did not comply; one of the suspects fired a handgun into the couch. The victim was then assaulted with the weapon, "pistol whipped" he was not shot. The suspect left the residence with an unknown quantity of marijuana. One of the suspects was identified by the license plate on the vehicle that was driven to the residence.
Detectives went to a residence in Adams County to execute the search warrant. At approximately 7:30 p.m. they seized the vehicle driven by the suspect in the armed robbery, but did not find the suspects. A metro area "be on the lookout" (BOLO) for one of the suspects was distributed to area law enforcement agencies. Shortly after 9:00 p.m. Longmont Police initiated a traffic stop on a different vehicle, which they believed contained one of the suspects. The driver failed to yield to the Longmont officers and another pursuit ensued. That pursuit terminated in the city of Brighton. All information surrounding the pursuit and the termination of that pursuit will be distributed by Longmont Police and/or the Adams County Sheriff.
