Update on the water rescue near Boulder Falls

The injured party pulled from Boulder Creek yesterday evening is a 21-year-old resident of Superior.

Boulder County, Colo. - The injured party rescued from Boulder Creek below Boulder Falls yesterday evening is Emmah Romero, a 21-year-old resident of Superior. Emmah was hiking with friends in the area above Boulder Falls when she fell into North Boulder Creek. Emmah was pulled from Boulder Creek approximately one mile downstream by good Samaritans who initiated CPR until rescuers could arrive.

Emmah was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and continues to undergo treatment. Specific detail regarding the nature and extent of Emmah's injuries cannot be released due to medical privacy laws, but she has been able to communicate with medical personnel during the course of her treatment.

Emmah and her friends were hiking in an area that was closed to the public. This area is owned by the City of Boulder and is part of their Mountain Parks & Open Space system. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident is on-going, and it has not been determined what, if any, charges may stem from this incident.
