Boulder County, Colo. - On September 12th, 2016 at approximately7:35pm the Boulder County Regional Communications Center received 911 calls regarding a possible vehicle fire near the 32.5 mile marker of Boulder Canyon Dr. also known as State Highway 119 just above the Falls in Boulder Canyon, Boulder County, Colorado.

Deputies from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office along with members from the Nederland and Sugar Loaf Fire Protection Districts responded and found a 2007 Nissan Frontier fully engulfed in flames. The vehicle was parked on the shoulder of the road and the grass near the vehicle had also started on fire. The fire spread to a size of approximately 20 feet by 20 feet.

The driver of the vehicle told Deputies that he was having car problems and decided to pullover to see what the issue was. When he stopped he noticed flames coming from underneath the car. The driver tried to use dirt to put the fire out but was unsuccessful. A passing motorist tried to assist with a fire extinguisher but was not able to put the fire out.

Upon the arrival of fire personnel they were able to quickly put the fire out. The vehicle was a complete loss. There were no injuries reported and no structures were threatened. While putting out the fire Boulder Canyon was closed in both directions for approximately 20 minutes.
