Vietnam Veterans Commemoration Ceremony scheduled for Nov. 11

Boulder
County Commissioners to distribute pins for the 50th Anniversary of
the Vietnam War

Boulder County, Colo. - Vietnam Veterans from Boulder County and
the surrounding areas are invited to a pinning ceremony in Longmont on Veterans
Day, Nov. 11. The Veterans Services Office of Boulder County Community Services
is participating in the Commemorative Partner program to recognize Vietnam-era
veterans during the 50
th Anniversary of the war. In Boulder County,
the commemorative event will include the county commissioners presenting official
pins to any Vietnam Veterans in attendance after the Veterans Day Parade in
Longmont.

President Barack Obama signed a
proclamation for the commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the
Vietnam War and requested that local governments partner with the federal government
to honor veterans with pinning ceremonies and other events.

“While no words will ever be fully
worthy of their service, nor any honor truly befitting their sacrifice, let us
remember that it is never too late to pay tribute to the men and women who
answered the call of duty with courage and valor,” stated President Obama in
his proclamation.

All members of the public and all
veterans from any time of service are invited to witness the pinning ceremony. All
are welcome to attend the Veterans Day Parade in advance of the pinning ceremony;
the Parade begins at exactly 11:11 a.m. Any veterans who may need
transportation services to attend the ceremony – this could include access to
bus passes or shuttle services – please contact Michael Holliday at
303-441-3890 by Nov. 6 to arrange services.
