Outdoor Creations - A 2014 Boulder County Juried Art Show

Call For Artists A plein air "Paint-Out" will take place from June 1 through August 10 on open space properties.

After June 1, artists can submit their work to the Outdoor Creations - A 2014 Boulder County Juried Art Show that will run October 10 through November 7.

Painting Events

Artist led group paintings will be held on open space properties, including some properties usually inaccessible to the public, throughout the "Paint-Out" period.

Painting events will take place at the Agricultural Heritage Center, Caribou Ranch, Walden Ponds, Walker Ranch, Alexander Dawson, Anne U. White and Heil Valley Ranch.

Dates and times will be announced after May 1.

Rules & Guidelines

  • Created works must use en plein air technique or "working in the open air."
  • Created works must be done in acrylic, clay, cloth, ink, oil, pastel, pencil, watercolor or wood.
  • Photographs are not eligible.
  • The center of interest of the work must feature Boulder County Parks and Open Space properties.
  • Entries from these areas will not be considered as they are owned/managed by other agencies
    • Arahapoe Pass
    • Bobolink Trail
    • Boulder Falls
    • Brainard Lake area
    • Chautauqua Meadow & Flatirons area
    • Enchanted Mesa & Shanahan Ridge area
    • Flagstaff Summit & surrounding area
    • Rainbow Lakes
    • Sourdough Trail
    • Teller Farms & White Rocks area

Entry Fee

Adults (18 and up): For a $30 entry fee, artists may submit up to four pieces to be considered for an exhibition at "Great Frame-Up" in Longmont.

Youth (14 and under): For free, may submit up to four pieces for an exhibition at the WOW Museum in Lafayette.

Exhibit & Prizes

The exhibit opening will be held on Friday, October 10 from 6-9 p.m. The exhibit will run through November 7.

Cash prizes will be awarded to adults. Other prizes will be awarded to youth participants.
