The FREE Eldo Shuttle service is now operating for the 2021 season. Track your bus’s arrival time and location in real-time using Transit App.
Due to a bus driver shortage, beginning 7/24, service to and from the US 36 & McCaslin Park-n-Ride in Superior will end at 2:30pm instead of 7pm. Passengers boarding in Boulder or at SH 93 & SH 170 will not be impacted. Riders returning to Superior will need to catch a bus in the State Park by 1:30pm.

Free Eldorado Canyon State Park Shuttle begins Saturday, May 29, 2021

Beginning on Saturday, May 29, Boulder County and Colorado Parks & Wildlife is offering FREE shuttle bus service on weekends and holidays this summer and fall to carry passengers from Boulder to Eldorado Canyon State Park, which is a popular hiking, sightseeing, and climbing destination south of Boulder. The shuttle, operated by Via Mobility Services, will help address increased parking and traffic congestion-related impacts in Eldorado Springs and within the state park, which connects to Walker Ranch.

Shuttle Schedule

The shuttle service runs Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from Saturday, May 29 through Monday, Sept. 6, 2021. Shuttles run every 20 minutes from Boulder and Marshall (CO 93 & CO 170) and every 30 minutes from Superior.

Saturdays 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Sundays 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Holidays
Monday, May 31, Monday, July 5, and Monday, Sept. 6
8 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Shuttle Route and Stops

  • Regent Drive & Broadway
    • Shuttle stop and parking in the CU Regent Lot #306, just east of Broadway
  • Broadway & 27th Way
    • Parking available in the RTD Park-n-Ride.
    • Shuttle stops at the RTD stops on Broadway.
  • Broadway & Dartmouth Avenue
    • Parking available in the RTD Park-n-Ride.
    • Shuttle stops at the RTD stops on Broadway.
  • Broadway & Table Mesa Drive
    • Shuttle stops at the RTD stops on Broadway.
  • CO 93 & CO 170
    • Parking available in the dirt lot on the east side of CO 93.
    • Shuttle stops in the dirt lot and in front of the gas station (no shuttle parking available in the gas station lot).
  • US 36 & McCaslin Park-n-Ride
    • Shuttle stops at the Superior FlexRide stop in the parking lot next to pedestrian bridge
    • Riders will need to transfer buses at CO 93 & CO 170 to continue to the state park

  • Eldorado Canyon State Park entrance station
    • Shuttle stops in front of the entrance station bathrooms.
    • Exit here to access the Streamside trail.
  • Eldorado Canyon State Park Visitor Center
    • Shuttle stops in front of the visitor center.
    • Exit here for the Fowler, Rattlesnake, or Eldorado Canyon trails and the picnic area.

Important Notes for Superior Passengers

  • Due to a bus driver shortage, beginning 7/24, service to and from the US 36 & McCaslin Park-n-Ride in Superior will end at 2:30pm, instead of 7pm. Riders returning to Superior will need to catch a bus in the State Park by 1:30pm.
  • The shuttle route from Superior runs between US 36 & McCaslin and CO 93 & CO 170, with service every 30 minutes
  • To continue to Eldorado Canyon State Park, you will need to transfer buses at CO 93 & CO 170
  • To the State Park and on the return trip, the first bus will drop you off at the gas station and the second bus will pick you up in the same spot
  • To minimize wait time when transferring, catch the bus in Superior on the hour (8:00, 9:00, etc.) and the bus from the State Park on the half hour (12:30, 1:30, etc.)Example screen from Transit app

State Parks Pass

All shuttle passengers will be required to have a valid state parks pass to ride the shuttle into the state park. Shuttle riders can bring an annual pass, purchase a day pass online at www.cpwshop.com or bring $4 cash per adult (exact change).

Accessible Hiking

  • All shuttles and shuttle stops are ADA accessible.
  • The Eldo Shuttle provides access to the Fowler Trail, a wheelchair accessible trail.

Outdoor Gear and Pets

  • Crashpads and other climbing gear are welcome.
  • Leashed, well-behaved dogs are welcome.
  • Each shuttle has a bike rack that can hold two bikes.

Take the Bus to the Shuttle!

Rather than driving directly to the state park or one of the shuttle parking lots, visitors are encouraged to take the RTD SKIP, DASH, Flatiron Flyer or any other RTD bus route that stops along Broadway to connect to the Eldo Shuttle.

Parking is extremely limited inside Eldorado Canyon State Park, and there is no public parking nearby outside of the park. When parking inside the state park is full, you will be not be allowed in. Illegal parking could result in fines and/or towed vehicles.

COVID-19 Procedures

To reduce the spread of COVID-19, the following policies are in place:

  • If you have recently experienced any symptoms of COVID-19, including fever, cough, or sore throat, please do not ride the shuttle.
  • A mask or face covering is required to ride the shuttle for passengers 3 and older.
  • Shuttle capacity is limited to available seats (no standing).
  • Shuttles are disinfected once per day, and high touch surfaces are wiped down after each trip.
