In the summer of 2020, Boulder County Public Works completed Phase I of a major construction effort on Olde Stage Road between Lee Hill and Lefthand Canyon drives. The project had multiple components, including:
- Two new retaining walls to provide stability for the roadway and hillside
- A new culvert at Six Mile Creek that will increase resiliency and accommodate higher flows (photo to the right)
Starting in July of 2022, Phase II will consist a repaving project between Lefthand and Lee Hill drives that will include wider shoulder on the south end of Olde Stage in order create a climbing lane for cyclists and provide room for emergency services. Work is anticipated to be complete by the end of October.
Travel Impacts During Phase II
Motorists and cyclists can expect single lane closures between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The entire surface of Olde Stage Road surface will be milled at the beginning of the project, so cycling conditions will be less than ideal. Alternate routes are advised. Expect delays of up-to 15-minutes. Longer delays may be necessary when crews are paving through intersections with Lefthand and Lee Hill drives. Flaggers will be used to guide travelers safely around construction zones.
