The RTD Rail Regional Trail (formerly known as the “Union Pacific (UP) Regional Trail”) will run from the eastern boundary of the City of Boulder traversing nine miles to Erie using the old Union Pacific Rail line when possible – see map below. The first step in trail development will be an environmental study of the corridor as part of a master planning process.
The RTD Rail Regional Trail is one of eight planned trails eligible for funding under the 2007 Countywide Sales Tax Ballot Issue. Boulder County has been in discussions with RTD to discuss its potential future as a trail connection. The county hopes to begin a master planning process in the near future to identify needs, opportunities and constraints of constructing a regional trail in that area.
A public process will be part of the master planning effort. More information will be posted here as it becomes available. If you’d like to be added to the email notification list for this project, send an email to Boulder County Transportation.
