Time Commitment & Minimum Age: Minimum commitment of three field trip programs per year. Minimum age is 14.

The Altona School at Heil Valley Ranch, near Boulder.

Program Summary:

Educator Volunteers will lead educational, fun programs at the recently restored Altona Schoolhouse at Heil Valley Ranch.
Volunteers will:
• Present one room school field trips for pre-requested group visits. Teachers will choose from a pioneer school experience or a World War II school experience.
• Present artifact trunks for pre-requested group visits.
• Research, develop, and present future field trip or public program activities
• Research and lead period-appropriate crafts, games, and possibly songs

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Must be at least 14 years old (volunteers under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult parent/guardian during training and volunteer shifts)
  • Passion about local history
  • Comfortable speaking to a wide range of ages and audiences
  • Must have personal transportation
  • Pass criminal background check
Training Dates and Information:

Training date is August 1.
