Colorado Cares Day

Project Date: Sat, July 22, 2017 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Opportunity Type: One-Time Volunteer Opportunity
Department: Parks & Open Space
Category: Open Space, Environment, and Gardening

Hall Ranch

Program Summary:

Please join us as we revisit a tree planting site in the Fourmile Fire burn area. In 2013 volunteers planted 1,700 ponderosa pine seedling at the top of Ingram Gulch in an effort to provide long term slope stabilization and erosion control. Many of the trees have survived and they are in need of some attention. Duties will include removing plastic caging from trees, re-staking trees, and removing planting materials from the worksite.

Multiple hazards exist in and around the worksite including standing dead trees, bare mineral soils, and steep rocky terrain.

Although the work itself will be light duty, negotiating the work site could be considered strenuous and should be considered before signing up for the project.

Hard hats, gloves and tools will be provided.
