INTERN Client Services Advocate-Healthy Communities

Time Commitment or Project Date: This position requires a minimum 6 month commitment with opportunity to extend as agreed upon with a commitment of 8–20 hours/week. Hours are schedule during the work day to ensure staff support and supervision.

Boulder and Longmont Office based Opportunity

Program Summary:

The Healthy Communities Support Worker assists community members with accessing health care and understanding eligibility and resources. As a health advocate, volunteers will work with community members; health agencies, medical offices, and County staff to ensure health care is accessible and understood by all eligible Boulder County residence.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties are to assist the community members with health care benefit inquiries, support the program staff with market materials and information dissemination and to advocate for the health needs of program eligible individuals. The position requires networking and information gathering via strong telephone communication skills.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Seeking service oriented individual that is mature and has understanding of the needs of health care benefits programs or is willing to learn about health benefits and resources. Strong written and oral communication skills are requires as well as an ability to work in a fast pace office environment. Spanish language skills are a benefit to support program participants.

Training Dates and Information:

• Upfront Orientation provided
• Participation in upfront orientation and “on-the job” shadowing and training
• Ongoing training available opportunities are available
• Individual staff supervisor and biweekly individual check-ins available

• Participation in HHS Orientation
• Attendance at Healthy Communities Team Orientation
• Available for team meeting and/or one on one support from HHS staff
• Open to learning and to receiving feedback
• Willingness to join a busy, dedicated team of professionals
