Kestrel is an inclusive, multi-generational, supportive housing community located in Louisville. The Breaking Barriers summer program offers weekly unique experiences for ages 11-14 throughout the summer. Activities include: art projects, visiting a local farm, hiking, building a Little Free Library, experiential learning in poetry, coding, music production.
|Duties and Responsibilities:||
Assist program coordinator and participants in weekly activities. Duties include co-leading Breaking Barriers curriculum, keeping participants engaged and on task, preparing snacks, ensuring the safety of all participants.
|Qualifications and Requirements:||
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, pass a criminal background check, and have their own transportation or public transportation to the Kestrel Community Center. Excellent volunteers demonstrate cultural sensitivity, patience, and enthusiasm for learning and community. Experience in education and leadership are beneficial, but not required. Volunteers must commit to assisting at least six of the eight program dates.
