Boulder County approves funding to support businesses in Lyons and Nederland

County Commissioners approve funds to help support local, small business in Lyons and Nederland adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic

(Boulder County, Colo.) -- The Boulder County Board of County Commissioners recently approved the reallocation of funds to help support local, small business in Lyons and Nederland that have been adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Town of Lyons has access to $200,000 for an estimated 110 business in their town limits, and the Town of Nederland has access to $150,000 to distribute as they see necessary to help an approximate 160 businesses both within and outside of their downtown district. Application for the funding will be provided by each town. Business owners can apply by contacting the town’s designated administrators:

“The Town of Lyons appreciates the support from Boulder County, which has provided businesses within the Town of Lyons access to greater CARES ACT funding in order to help cover rent, mortgage or utility payments due to revenue shortfalls from the pandemic.” stated Trustee Hollie Rogin of Lyons. “Additionally, the funds may also be used to help businesses pay for PPE or cleaning and sanitation supplies. This will positively impact many of our local businesses who have been tremendously impacted since March.”

“The Town of Nederland is grateful to the Boulder County Commissioners for their reallocation of $150,000 in CARES Act Relief funds,” said Nederland Town Administrator Karen Gerrity. “The money will be put to good use in support of businesses who are struggling during the pandemic as they prepare for the winter months. The County continues to be a critical regional partner to the Town.“

Funding for this program is allocated by the federal CARES ACT Relief Fund, through a distribution to local governments in Colorado. Boulder County has developed a strong partnership with jurisdictions within the county and distributed 45% of the more than $15 million dollars allocated to Boulder County, via the Department of Local Affairs, to cities and towns within Boulder County.

The county is managing 55% of the funds to support the emergency response to the public health pandemic, funding for increased food access, better access to unemployment insurance, support for small businesses in unincorporated Boulder County, support for safety net organizations and clinics, among other allocations to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on community members and our economy.
