Boulder County Government Holiday Closures

Emergency services and 24/7 public safety and emergency transportation operations will maintain normal schedules

Boulder County Offices and Buildings will be closed:

  • Christmas Holiday: Monday, Dec. 24 & Tuesday, Dec. 25

  • New Year's Holiday: Monday, Dec. 31 & Tuesday, Jan. 1

Regular meetings and appointments will not be held on these dates. Emergency services and 24/7 public safety operations will maintain normal schedules.

In addition, we’d like to call out a few closures that typically have walk-in public services that will be impacted by the closures:

Motor Vehicle

It has come to our attention that a print vendor incorrectly listed the Motor Vehicle offices as open for part of the day on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve on the December Registration Renewal Postcards. Like other county offices, county motor vehicle offices will be closed on the dates shown above.

Vehicle registration renewal services are available 24-hours a day online at www.Colorado.gov/RenewPlates . After the transaction, you can download or print a copy of your renewal. Also, note that Colorado provides a “grace” month to renew. If your registration expires in December, you have until the end of January to renew without additional fees.

Note: If you are traveling with your vehicle out-of-state, we recommend renewing before the tags expire (even if just online) as not all states honor the grace month.

Hazardous Materials Management Facility (HMMF)

The Hazardous Materials Management Facility (HMMF) will be closed Sunday, Dec. 23 through Wednesday, Dec. 26 and again Sunday, Dec. 30 through Wednesday, Jan. 2. Please see the HMMF website for hours and details about what materials can be dropped off during open hours.

Wishing you a safe and happy holiday season!
