Denverite involved in paraglider accident

Boulder County, Colo. - On Saturday, October 2021 at approximately 12:29 p.m., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a paraglider who had crashed in the area of North Cedarbrook Road and Pine Needle Road. Once additional information was received, it was known that the subject was on the east side of the ridge near the south launching site.

Boulder Mountain Fire Protection District personnel were the first to arrive on scene followed shortly by American Medical Response (AMR) and Rocky Mountain Rescue Group personnel. After stabilizing the patient, rescuers moved the patient in a litter to the top of the ridge line and then lowered him down to the ambulance which was located on Pine Needle Road. The 27-year-old male from Denver was transported by AMR to a Boulder area hospital with life threating injuries. The rescue took approximately two hours.

Agencies assisting with this rescue included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, American Medical Response, Boulder Emergency Squad, Boulder Mountain Fire Protection District, City of Boulder Open Space and Mountains Parks and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group.
