Hiker Rescued from the Area of Brainard Lake

Boulder County, Colo. - On Sunday, March 7, 2021 at approximately 8:04 p.m. the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a party who had lost the trail while descending from a hike up Mount Audubon. The 27-year-old male from Erie, Colorado was also able to contact 911 and report his location.

Rescuers from the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group employed a tracked utility terrain vehicle (UTV) to transport rescuers to the Mitchell Lake Trailhead where they then accessed the hiker on foot. The hiker was then escorted out to the UTV and transported out to the Brainard Lake Winter parking lot where he was released on his own recognizance.

The rescue took approximately four and one half hours.

Agencies assisting with this rescue effort included: Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group and American Medical Response.
