Senior Tax Worker Program

Senior Tax Worker Program

The Senior Tax Worker Program is an opportunity for seniors 60 years or older to earn money equivalent to the Boulder County-designated portion of their property taxes up to $1,000.* Seniors must own property in Boulder County and live at the location where the taxes are due.

Apply Online

The 2022 application deadline is July 15.

Note: Due to ongoing concerns surrounding the transmission of COVID-19, all senior tax workers who are offered a position with Boulder County must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and submit proof of vaccination or an approved reasonable accommodation prior to starting work. Also, due to the ongoing impacts of the pandemic, open positions for senior tax workers are very limited.

How the Program Works

Senior property owners are hired as temporary workers for the county earning $12.56 per hour. Participants are eligible to earn between $240 and $1,000, based on the Boulder County portion of their property tax bill.

The Commissioners’ Office and the hiring department each contribute to the salary. The tax worker receives a monthly paycheck for all hours worked. Social Security and Public Employee Retirement Association (PERA) are deducted from this monthly paycheck. Wages earned are paid directly to the senior tax worker; all participants in the program are still responsible for paying their property taxes by the due date(s).
