LATE FEE UPDATE: Due to COVID-19 closures earlier this year, the State Department of Revenue paused late fees for the months of March – June. If you renewed your registration at a kiosk or online, you may have been charged late fees for those months. The Department of Revenue will be reviewing and refunding these late fees, as applicable. They will mail refund checks out by the end of October 2020 to the mailing address on file.

Please note that late fees will still be charged for expired registrations outside of the March-June time frame. For example, if your registration expired in January 2020 and you renew in August, you would be charged late fees for two months (July and August – $50 total). You would not accrue late fees for February (your grace month) or March-June (when late fees were paused).

If you have not yet renewed an expired vehicle registration, please contact our office before renewing online or at a kiosk to ensure an inaccurate late fee is not applied: 303-413-7710 or motorvehicle@bouldercounty.org.
