Boulder County Motor Vehicle Offices Reopen June 1 - By Appointment Only - No walk-ins

To help us assist as many people as possible, please only make an appointment if you cannot complete your transaction online or by mail. We are mainly taking appointments for:

    • New titles, out-of-state titles, title concerns
    • Private party sales
    • First-time registrations that could not be completed online or by mail
    • Or for transactions you have attempted online, but cannot complete and/or cannot complete in a timely fashion (due to travel, emergency, etc.)

If your service needs to be completed in-person, please visit our Appointments page to schedule your appointment online. Please note that you will be required to wear a mask during your appointment (for ages 12+; masks will be provided for those who do not have one). In almost all circumstances, vehicle renewals can be completed online or at a MV Express Kiosk. (Remember you have a one month grace period – unless driving out of state).

Boulder MV Express Kiosk – The self-service kiosk at the Boulder Clerk and Recorder is available for use, but a staff member will need to give you access to the building. Someone will greet you at the door when you arrive. Simply tell them that you are there to use the kiosk. Please also be aware that you will be required to wear a mask while in the building (for ages 12+ ; masks will be provided for those who do not have one).

If you need assistance making an appointment or completing a transaction remotely, please call us at (303) 413-7710 between 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Alternatively, you can email us at motorvehicle@bouldercounty.org. You can also visit our COVID-19 Closure FAQ page to see how common issues can be handled without the need for an office visit.

If you need an emissions test for your vehicle renewal, Air Care Colorado emissions stations reopened on May 15 at select locations. Check locations and special safety protocols at www.AirCareColorado.com. After your emissions test, simply wait 5 minutes and then go online to complete your renewal at https://mydmv.colorado.gov.
