IN AN EFFORT TO MITIGATE THE SPREAD OF CORONAVIRUS COVID-19, THE BOULDER COUNTY COMMUNITY PLANNING & PERMITTING DEPARTMENT IS CLOSED AND HAS TEMPORARILY STOPPED ACCEPTING BUILDING AND PLANNING APPLICATIONS WHILE WE SET UP REMOTE CAPABILITIES FOR OUR SERVICES

We are continuing to respond to email inquiries and are working to provide alternative options to help you, including expanded online application submittals, conference calls, and video meetings. We also will continue to hold pre-application conferences remotely via telephone or video.

Submittal Schedule for Planning Applications

The Community Planning & Permitting Department manages the number of planning applications accepted each week in order to align with available resources. Once you have had a Pre-application Conference and have a complete application ready for review, please contact Community Planning & Permitting at 303-441-3930 to get on the schedule to submit your planning application.


The Boulder County Land Use Planning Division includes the Development Review team (Site Plan Review, Current Planning, and Zoning Review) and Long Range Team (Long Range, Special Projects, and Public Information), as well as support staff.

The Planning Division’s primary responsibilities are maintaining the Boulder County Comprehensive Plan and Boulder County Land Use Code, reviewing development proposals for consistency with the Comprehensive Plan and conformance with the Land Use Code, conducting site visits and inspections, answering day-to-day planning and zoning questions from the public, and Historic Preservation.
